The Bukit Duabelas National Park with almost of 60.500 ha straddles three districts, namely Sarolangun, Muaratebo, and Batanghari. Lying between 30 m and 430 m above sea level, the national park is located at 102º31'37" - 102º48'27" East Longitude and 1º44'35" - 2º03'15" South Latitude.

Bukit Duabelas area is made unique by its association with the Orang Rimba. The area is recognized as their habitat and source of livelihood. In fact, the surrounding villagers are also involved in the collection of forest products, such as rattans, resins, gaharu and so forth.

Various kinds of flora and fauna found in this area are utilized by the Orang Rimba for food or medicine. Examples of the fauna present are chicken (Gallus gallus), biawak (Varanus salvator), barking deer (Muntiacus muntjak), bearded pig (Sus barbatus), rare animal such as: Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrensis), Malayan sun bear (Helarctos malayanus), Mouse deer (Tragulus napu) and rare birds such as: Crested serpent eagle (Spilornis cheela),

Enggang klihingan (Anorrhinus amictus), Seluloyok (Anthracoceros malayanus), Rhinoceros hornbills (Buceros rhinoceros), Buhung gading (Buceros vigil), Garnet pitta (Pitta granatina), dan Tiung (Gracula religiosa).Cendana kaus jamntung

Some of the medicinal plants found here are Cendawan balus (Pycnoporus sp.), Tubo kayu, Tubo akar, Tembalau, Paku balus, Selusuh kayu, Selusuh akar, Akar penyegar (Smilax zeylanica), Terap, Rotan sio, Tunam, and Sentubung.
